In 2024 HPBA accomplishments include:

Worked with Hastings Parks Department to improve facilities at Roadside Park including:

Implemented the paddle rack system to assist with open play

Added court dividers to prevent balls from rolling into other courts

Added windscreens to improve play

Added medical equipment to the courts to improve player safety

Improved bathroom facilities

Added electrical outlets to support court maintenance e.g. blowers to remove debris

Helped organize summer and fall leagues

Organized first annual Rivertown Days pickleball tournament

Facilitated morning open play with up to 60 players attending in the morning

HPBA members organized round robin tournaments on Fridays and Saturdays

Worked with the YMCA and Community Ed to create winter play opportunities

Added Picnic Tables, Umbrellas and Benches at Roadside Court

Added Storage Shed at Roadside Courts

Newly custom painted electrical box at the court entrance

Tennis Shoe Reclamation Program-we sent 100’s of pairs of tennis shoes to a program that separates good shoes for those in need from junk shoes that get recycled for another use.

Facilitated Play Time Scheduler app for flexible player time scheduling.

Continued City organized leagues and tournaments

Offered monthly Round Robins for adults and young players

Held Youth Pickleball clinic outdoors.

Added a Spring Dink Off-Outdoor season kick off event and a Fall Tournament
